Rev. Troy Bratten

Rev. Troy Bratten

Associate Minister

Troy Bratten was born to loving parents Gloria and Lawrence Bratten. He has a host of brothers, sisters, and close family members who love him tremendously. Troy was educated in the Willingboro School District and then went on to Paul Quinn College where he met the love of his life, his wife, Theresa. Troy and Theresa are the parents to LeJominick Washington. They were briefly guardians to two teens.

Troy has always had a strong spiritual background thinking that one day he might become a Minister. Growing up in New Mickle Baptist Church, Troy was active. Participating in Sunday School and all Youth events, the leadership skills he learned as a youth, he took with him to college where not only did he become the President of his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, but at the same time was also elected President of the Student Government Association. Troy was also inducted in the Who’s Who of College Students.

Upon graduation from Paul Quinn College, Troy went to work for the Camden County Department of Corrections. Troy has been with the County for over 23 years. He has earned Employee of the Month several times. He was honored by the Board of Freeholders with a Service honor, recognized by the PBA Local #351 for his hard work and professionalism.

Troy is dedicated to working with others, especially with the thought that Black Lives Matter. Troy has organized a community feeding every Thanksgiving to the people of Camden. The Camden County Department of Corrections come to New Mickle with coats, gloves, clothes, and toiletries for those less fortunate. They take food to the Senior Saints as well as go out to the “Tent Cities” to feed people who couldn’t get to the church for any food or supplies. Even at active events for New Mickle Baptist Church, you can see Troy talking with people and willing to pray with men who may have lost their way.

Troy’s favorite scripture is, Isaiah 55:8-9, “For your thoughts are not My thoughts and your ways are not My ways” saith the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
