Rev. Thelma Baker

Rev. Thelma Baker

Associate Minister

Thelma Jane Willis entered the world January 11, 1947, to loving parents Linwood and Julia Willis.

Educated in the Camden City Schools, she is a proud graduate of Camden High School. After graduation, she became an eager college freshman at Cheyney State College. Upon graduation, she married Gregory L. Miller and was blessed with a wonderful marriage for 49 years.

Rev. Thelma and Gregory were parents of Gregory L. Miller II, who now is married to a wonderful daughter-in-love, LaTanya Renee.
After the death of her beloved husband Gregory, the Lord allowed me to meet and later marry Deacon Rogers. A. Baker. Once again, God has shown his blessings on my life.

Rev. Thelma has been blessed to obtain degrees from Cheyney, Widener, Arcadia, and Rowan Universities. She is currently finishing my degree from Cairn University in Theology.

Her early love of Jesus was fostered by her parents and the many fine members of New Mickle Baptist Church. After baptism, she learned to use my spiritual gifts in the ministries of the church where she found joy in Sunday School, moving from student to teacher. She served as the Director of Christian Education, a member of the Jr. Choir, Gospel Chorus, Missionary Ministry, and Mass Choir. The Lord allowed her to become a Deaconess, which deepened her love for ministry. She talked with and prayed with friends and after much prayer, Rev. Melvin N. Allen allowed her to be a part of a class of candidates for ministry. After classes, she was licensed and was ordained in 2003.

The Lord in his grace and mercy allowed her to become the Assistant Pastor of New Mickle and through the providence of God upon the resignation of Rev. Melvin. N. Allen, Sr., she is now the interim pastor of New Mickle. Never in her wildest dreams could she have imagined this happening. She is honored and humbled. How great is our God! To God be the Glory!
